Ten Hag suggests possible position change for Lindelof's at Man United

Erik ten Hag brought Victor Lindelof on for the last 10 minutes in Man United’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Interestingly, he replaced Casemiro and played in the no.6 role. Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he could start playing in this role more often going forward.

The gaffer said after the game: “Lindelof was educated as a six, as a controlling, holding midfielder in Benfica. So I know he can do that and we already tried it before in training and maybe in one game.

“But also I sometimes want my centre-halves playing in midfield positions so that we create dynamics. So it’s just to construct more dynamics in the team.”

Some United fans have craved to see Lindelof playing in the defensive midfield role, as he possess imprssive passing ability and can help shield a backline with his composed challenges.

It remains to be seen whether Victor actually starts a game in the no.6 role, but it appears that Ten Hag sees him as a possible backup to Casemiro in the position amid Scott McTominay’s absence.
