Tebas 'did everything possible' to deny 19-year-old Leo Messi first-team registration in 2005
Javier Tebas' efforts to prevent Barcelona from registering Gavi's new deal were not the first such case.
Tebas slammed Barca for 'skipping the registration deadlines' [Messi made his league debut on October 1 while the registration deadline was in August], as well as for the fact that Messi 'did not have a professional youth record with Barcelona' needed for him to be able to make his first-team debut in La Liga.
What's funny about the whole story is that Zaragoza - the team that faced Barcelona on the day of Messi's league debut - did not even challenge his presence in the game. It was the idea of the man who had absolutely nothing to do with Leo's debut.
Tebas' complaints did not help him much as the Argentine still made 14 league appearances that season. The same scenario awaits Gavi.
