Stadium designer reveals what a redeveloped Old Trafford could look like when it's finally complete

So far, we know Manchester United have appointed a team of leading consultants to begin work on creating a "masterplan" for the redevelopment of one of football's most historic venues.

In fact, United have brought in the architects of Tottenham Hotspur's state-of-the-art 63,000-seater stadium to "significantly enhance the fan experience."

Amongst the options being considered, two of them are to expand both the capacity and the stadium that has fallen behind its competitors in the past decade or so.

United, and in particular the Glazer family, have been widely criticised for their lack of investment towards modernising Old Trafford.

But with potential new owners being linked, it looks like they could splash £2 billion on redeveloping the stadium.

Qatar’s Investment Authority, which is a sovereign wealth fund worth £368 billion, will allegedly go toe-to-toe with British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe to purchase the club.

All we know is, a big upgrade is needed to help Old Trafford compete with some of the world's best stadiums. And in a fascinating video, YouTuber Bondibot has created three potential designs to get fans excited.

The first concept put forward in the above video is Old Trafford expanding its overall capacity to 74,310, with the Bobby Charlton Stand getting a well-needed refresh.

Next up is an upgrade that features a modern 360-degree facade, similar to that of the Allianz Arena, alongside a new roof and expansion to the Sir Alex Ferguson stand.

And with the Qatari owners open to a complete rebuild of the historic stadium, a design has been made to show a training ground where Old Trafford currents sits, and a new state-of-the-art stadium nearby.

Of course, these are fan-made mock ups to show what the Theatre of Dreams could look like with financial backing, but nevertheless – it's fascinating to see.

Thoughts on the above designs? Do you think Old Trafford needs a total rebuild?
