Sir Alex Ferguson: 'I don't think Marcus Rashford is a striker'

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I don't think Marcus Rashford is a striker. He operates away from the left-hand side and has been fantastic.

"His finishing is always good, always keeps his shots down — which is really important for a striker — and is in a great vein of form.

"Unfortunately for Manchester United he's the main source of goals — we could do with an extra one, but he's doing it."

Rashford has been forced to play in the no.9 role at times this season with but it's clear that the 25-year-old is at his best on the left side of the attack.

The January arrival of Wout Weghorst allowed Erik ten Hag the freedom to play the forward on the wing with Rashford having the campaign of his life.
