Presnel Kimpembe apologises to fans with megaphone after PSG's 3-1 loss to Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain are enduring a tricky spell at the moment, losing twice in four days. In 2023, the Parisians have now lost three of their seven league matches and were also knocked out of the French Cup by Marseille, their closest challengers in the league.

They still hold a five-point advantage at the Ligue 1 summit, but Marseille, who will be boosted by their cup success over the league leaders, will be looking to close that gap sooner rather than later.

Just behind them in third, two points further back than Marseille, is Monaco, who kept their title hopes alive with a sensational victory over the league leaders last night, capping off a horrible week for Philippe Clement and his side.

It was a makeshift side from the table toppers who had to make do without a trio of stars with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti all absent from the starting lineup. But, they got off to the worst possible start as Aleksandr Golovin opened the scoring just four minutes in, set up by Wissam Ben Yedder.

The French forward continued to cause chaos for the PSG backline as provider turned scorer just 18 minutes into the clash. A lifeline was thrown to the visitors when Warren Zaire-Emery pulled one back six minutes from the interval.

However, all hopes of a comeback were dashed in first half stoppage time as Ben Yedder doubled his tally to complete the game’s scoring. Those that played FIFA 22 Weekend League will be having flashbacks reading that!
