Patrice Evra convicted for homophobic social media post made in 2019

Patrice Evra has been convicted for posting homophobic insults on his social media back in 2019.

After Manchester United beat PSG in the Champions League, the former Red Devil labelled them fa****s and p*****s.

The video at the time caused outrage and based on a complaint by Stop Homophobia and Mousse, a Paris court has directed Evra to pay €1000 in fine and another €2000 to two anti-hate groups.

After the verdict, the complainant's lawyer told reporters: "The homophobic remarks of a personality like Patrice Evra fuel hatred and violence against LGBT people, in particular in countries where homosexuality is criminally repressed, like in Senegal, the country where Patrice Evra comes from."
