Man Utd 2-1 Barcelona: Fred – 9, Sancho – 4 : rating Man United stars in Barca win

Fred – 9

Sloppy in the first half, but had an incredible transformation in the second half. Started it with an excellent right-footed finish to score the equalizer and only got better. Tormented Barca players with his pressing and moved the ball forward excellently, making key passes too. It was his deflected shot that fell for Antony to score the winner. Absolute machine in second half and pivotal for the win.

Casemiro – 8.5

The glue that kept everything together for United. If not for him, the game could’ve been lost in the first half itself. Casemiro created a few big chances with excellent passes and was dominant in midfield – making key challenges and winning major duels. Made 14 possession recoveries and won 3 aerial duels – also making a key goal-saving block.

Antony – 8

Back after an injury spell, Antony added that much-needed directness and flow through the right. Caused nightmares with his speed and movement, helping open things up in Barca’s defence. Scored an exquisite strike that Ter Stegen had no chances of saving. His best performance in a long, long time.

Lisandro Martinez – 8

Martinez had a very good game and managed to keep Lewandowski really quiet. Maintained a geat defensive line and came up big whenever having to win key challenges. He made 4 clearances, 3 tackles, 8 ball recoveries and won 7 aerial duels. Excellent.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Like Fred, Bruno also had a sloppy first half – missing a huge chance early on. Move comfortably after bieing moved from right-wing to a central area – which helped him dictate things better. Set up Fred’s goal with a nice pass and also influential for the second – creating two big chances too.

Marcus Rashford – 6

Barca clearly had a plan to neutralize Rashford and had him tightly marked. Struggled being isolated on the left, but much more smooth on the central areas. Had a few swipes at goal but failed to score.

Jadon Sancho – 4

Sancho was almost invisible as a no.10 and struggled to have any influence over creating chances. Lacked much threat when moved to the left either and was taken off for Garnacho.
