Man United enter race for Mount as midfielder refuses to commit to Chelsea

Manchester United have thrown their hat in the race for Mason Mount, according to ESPN.

Chelsea have offered Mount a long-term deal as is consistent with the contracts handed to the likes of Reece James, Trevor Chalobah and every other new signing. Evening Standard say Chelsea wants Mount to sign a 7-year-contract to limit his power to renegotiate.

However, Mount is sad to have rejected the opportunity to tie himself down to a long-term deal, probably because of the salary and other unnamed reasons.

Manchester United are not the only Premier League club interested, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation with Mount closely.

Mount's form has dipped considerably in recent games. He's only scored one goal in his last 21 games. The Chelsea Academy graduate has a contract until 2024. The Blues could add the player in a deal to sign Joao Felix permanently until the summer.
