Man City allegedly broke financial rules for 9 seasons, investigation set to take place
According to The Athletic, the Premier League is going to have an independent commission investigate a series of alleged breaches of financial rules by Manchester City.
The allegations against City include not having provided accurate financial information regarding "its revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties and its operating costs."
The alleged breaches are reported to have been ongoing for the past 9 seasons.
This also includes not having fully disclosed managerial remuneration for a four-year period.
The reports also suggest that Man City "Did not comply with UEFA’s regulations around club licensing and financial fair play in 2013-14 and between 2014-15 and 2017-18."
City allegedly broke the Premier League's rules on profit and sustainability in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Furthermore, City have also failed to cooperate with the Premier League in their investigations between 2018-19 and 2022-23 by not “providing documents and information to the Premier League in the utmost good faith.”
A Premier League statement read: “In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club (Club) to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4.”It added: “The Premier League said in a statement: “Commissions are independent of the Premier League and member clubs.
