Liverpool 2-5 Real Madrid: Salah – 8, Gomez – 1: rating Liverpool players in Real Madrid loss
Mo started the game brilliantly and oozed confidence early on. Picked out a superb assist for Nunez’s goal and then saw his pressing rewarded with a lucky goal. Really tormenting with his movement and delivery in the first half, but mellowed down in the second half.
Darwin Nunez – 7.5
Showcased insane courage to score an amazing flick to put his side ahead. Full of running and provided lots of defensive cover. Probably the hardest-working player on the pitch. Should’ve had a penalty in the second half.
Cody Gakpo – 6.5
Gakpo looked sharp in his Champions League debut for Liverpool, troubling Liverpool with some nice movement in the first half. Set up some decent chances – but unable to convert any chances.
Fabinho – 3
Almost a passenger in midfield. Lacked any authority and gave away possession in the worst moments. A 38-year-old Modric stole the ball off him and set up the move for Benzema’s second. Couldn’t provide any defensive cover.
Alisson – 2
He gifted Vinicius his second goal with an awful, unnecessary clearance attempt. Unlucky to concede a few goals, but also let Benzema run rings around him for his second.
Joe Gomez – 1
Gomez was almost involved in every goal. Unfortunately, they were for Madrid and not Liverpool. Absolutely bullied by the Real Madrid forwards and made too many school-boy errors. Taken off after suffering an injury, summing up his nightmarish game.
