Laporta and Messi discuss potential tribute match, possible date revealed
Joan Laporta and Lionel Messi's father, Jorge, have discussed the possibility of arranging a tribute match, so that Leo would finally say goodbye to Barcelona fans the way he deserves.
Laporta's plan is to hold the game in the 2024/25 season when the construction works will be completed at the new Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo's Roger Torello. 2024 is also the year when Barcelona's 125th anniversary will be celebrated.
Previously, the president publicly promised the tribute game to be played sooner or later.
Messi left Barcelona in 2021. His current deal with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer.
