'If they’ve found a way to beat the system': Carragher expresses doubt over Boehly's approach to FFP rules
Chelsea owners spent have spent a lot of money since arriving at the club and that is no secret. Boehly and his people have offered new signings contracts as long as 8 years to be able to offset their expenses on the books and be able to splash more cash on multiple signings.
Jamie Carragher believes that this could spell trouble for Boehly and Chelsea in the future.
“If Todd Boehly and Chelsea have found a way around the [FFP} rules and not break them by putting players on eight, nine-year deals, I’d say good luck to them,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“If they’ve found a way to beat the system to spend the money without breaking any FFP rule, I’d say OK, maybe they’re ahead of the game.
“But I think there are just that many smart people within football that I can’t believe it’d take Todd Boehly to come into the English game, and after six months, suddenly he’s found a way that no one else has ever thought.”
