'If I was a bit selfish, it would come out more': Potter dismisses claims he shows lack of care on touchline
In an interview with Sky Sports, Graham Potter was asked if he ever broke the character and lost his temper with the Chelsea players behind the scenes.
"Yes, but I do it in a way that I think is respectful to them and at the right time," the head coach responded.
"Anyone can get angry but it's about getting angry at the right time, in the right place, with the right person. I think you've got to do what's right for the team and the club.
"The anger's there. The feeling's there. If I was a bit egotistic and a bit selfish, maybe it would come out a bit more. But I think that actually part of the job is to put yourself second and to think about the team and the club, and that's what I've done in all of my jobs and it's served me well.
"You can criticise that but I've come from a place where I know where I've started, I know where I am now, I know the teams and people that I've worked with.
"We could do a little montage of people that would probably provide me with a good decent reference from my work that I've done and they'll also say that I'm not as I'm perceived.
"People are perceived a certain way and that's fine, no problem."
Potter's behaviour on the touchline has been perceived by some of the fans that he does not care enough about the team's fortunes - unlike coaches like Antonio Conte or Thomas Tuchel who were full of emotions during their time in the Chelsea dugout.
In fairness, this probably should not be such a big deal, but the Blues' problems on the pitch do not help Potter.
