"How is that not a red": Fans think L. Martinez should have been sent off for dangerous tackle on Bamford
Lisandro Martinez clashed with Patrick Bamford towards first-half stoppage time. The Argentine defender intertwisted with the Englishman and hit his opponent in the face.
He luckily did not receive a yellow card, with VAR failing to check the incident.
But the action didn't go unseen by fans on social media as they say he should have seen red.
One Twitter user wrote: "I don’t understand how that is not a red, if that was Bamford doing that to Martinez he would be sent off. Disgusting tbh."
An Arsenal fan tweeted: "You can file that Martinez kick out at Bamford under the 'Granit Xhaka gets sent off for that' catalogue."
A third added: "Lisandro Martinez hit Bamford’s face with the bottom of his shoe - VAR doesn’t exist when the decision is against Manchester United."
A fourth said: "Martinez kicks Bamford in the head and the commentators call it imposing himself this league is so fake man."
Another commented: "Martinez absolutely kicked Bamford in the face and got away with it. Typical nonsense at Old Toilet."
Should Martinez have been shown a red card for his tackle on Bamford? Let us know what you think.
