"Messi's contract extension [with PSG] is a joke," former Paris Saint-Germain player Jerome Rothen has told the media, via A Bola.

"He makes no effort to put the club in the first place. Messi doesn’t thank the fans, he heads straight to the locker room after games. He doesn't acknowledge fans singing his name. His salary is exorbitant.

The Argentine has been criticised by some amid his recent performance against Marseille in the French Cup. PSG lost 2-1 and got eliminated while Messi produced little impact on the team's play.
