'He's lucky I won Champions League later': Drogba shares what he thinks about Ovrebo 14 years after THAT Barca game
Chelsea's game against Barcelona on 6 May 2009 is remembered well by many Blues fans, and not for a good reason.
Chelsea drew the Catalans 1-1, allowing Barca to advance to the finals on away goals. The Blues saw THREE credible penalty appeals turned down by referee Tom Henning Øvrebø.
Didier Drogba famously told 'it's a f***ing disgrace' to TV cameras as he couldn't believe he and the Blues were not given stonewall penalties.
"I told Tom Henning Øvrebø it was a disgrace and that people would remember him. I was restrained but I wanted to say certain things to him, but I would never strike a referee," the Chelsea legend recalled in an interview with Canal Plus.
"It was like a movie, a script from a movie. He’s lucky I won the Champions League later, though. There’s no hard feelings. Time takes its toll.
"Later on, I met some Barcelona players from that game. They told me they did not know or understand what happened that night. Nobody did."
