'He'll learn and come back stronger': United fans stand by Mason Greenwood

Some Manchester United fans have backed Mason Greenwood to make a sensational return to the club.

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

He has been suspended by United since he was first arrested back in January 2022. But The Greater Manchester Police announced February 2 that criminal proceedings against the youngster had been discontinued.

However, United said they will "conduct their own process" before deciding what to do next, with Greenwood still suspended by the club.

Here's how our readers reacted to a story on the talented forward:

Newton Heath: "Mason is a young boy who seems to have lost his way somewhat in this journey of life. Let’s support him to realise his true potential".

Massadonna 1999: "We stick by our family. The lad is innocent we need his quality If EtH is as good as they say he is put your arm around him and get him up and running he will be a stronger better player now".

Tim Wong: "The MU family will stick with its players through thick and thin. He has been freed from all charges and now, it is MU turn to help him built his life. As a fan, I don't want my club to turn back on this kid in times like this."

Said Athman Al Iddie: The boy has learnt through hard way. It is wrong for man united and the entire British society to brand him a disgrace when the investigation has proven him otherwise. The boy has a talent and great future that should not be destroyed by people sitting in office. It has taken the boy alot sacrifice and training to achieve the profile he has in football world and man united should capitalize on his talent as oppose to negatives.... I stand by Mason Greenwood".

Chester Tarwoe: "We are united so we need to stand by our players and give them more courage no matter what situations. We have to prove more love to them so let us encourage Greenwood to come back and continue with happiness".

Greenwood made his debut aged 17 in March 2019. He has since made over 80 appearances, scoring 22 times.
