Graham Potter names horrible preseason this term under Tuchel as root cause for Chelsea struggles
Graham Potter claims Chelsea had a horrible preseason this term under Thomas Tuchel. It goes a long way to explain the team's struggles during the season.
“Again, if you take the season, a sub-optimal pre-season. Speaking to a couple of the experienced guys, they thought it was the worst pre-season they’ve had for different reasons," Potter said in his press conference for the Spurs game.
"That’s not to blame anybody. That happened. I don’t want to speak about that (the reasons).
"Organisationally, the tour didn’t work as well as it would like. I wasn’t there so I can’t say,” Potter adds.
Chelsea had a preseason tour of the United States for the first time in four years. The Blues won just two of their four games in the States. The 4-0 defeat to Arsenal must've taken a toll on Tuchel's side.
