'Federal crime': Madrid fans fuming as Martinez tipped to win FIFA's Best goalkeeper ahead of Courtois
According to the Spanish outlet ABC, Aston Villa and Argentina international goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is set to win the FIFA's Best Goalkeeper award ahead of Thibaut Courtois.
Here's what the Madrid fans think on the matter.
RommyRanks: "So basically a season has 7 matches πππ"
OfficilM0R: "FIFA does not know the difference between the awards of the year and the awards of the World Cup."
Statxc: "A federal crime."
Kapuzinerr: "1 month wonder π"
Blanxo: "He wasn’t even the best goalkeeper at the World Cup"
Madridista17070: "Of the yearπππ???Just name the award best player of wc and still livakovic and bounou deserved it more."
FootyDutch: "That UCL final for Courtois alone >>> Martinez"
Mazin3: "SHAMELESS FIFA."
Martinez did in fact have a great World Cup campaign, yet Thibaut's 2022 was by no means any worse. Not only was he voted Man of the Match in the Champions League final, but also finished seventh in the Ballon d'Or rankings and clinched the Yashin Trophy.
The fans' frustration is fully understandable.
