De Gea makes 400th league appearance for United — here's how many clean sheets he needs to match Schmeichel's record

David de Gea played his 400th Premier League game for Man United in a 2-0 win against Leeds. The Spaniard kept a clean sheet, making several important stops.

According to Transfermarkt, De Gea has kept 179 clean sheets across all competitions for the Red Devils.

It means that he is just one clean sheet away from matching Peter Schmeichel's record of 180 clean sheets with United.

"Yes, he has limitations compared to more modern goalies, but I’ll forever be fond of, and grateful to, De Gea," United fan Jonas Hen Shrag tweeted post-match.

"Always given his all in times of adversity for the club, and his own dips in form. There were seasons when United were up sh1t creek, David was our paddle. Gracias amigo."
