David De Gea has beaten Peter Schmeichel to set a new record for the most clean sheets in the history of Manchester United.
During the 2-0 shutout of Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, De Gea registered his 181st clean sheet.
The 32-year-old has made over 500 appearances for the club since joining in 2011. He's been an ever-present between the sticks under different managers, establishing himself as the No.1 under Erik ten Hag as well.
Having won his second League Cup - and setting a new club record - De Gea told MUTV: "I’m happy. It was the perfect way to do it, in the final.
"To break the record is something amazing, so I’m really proud so let’s keep going and try to keep more clean sheets.
"I think we showed we are a good team. We performed really well. We deserve to win the cup and let's keep going."
