Dani Alves denied bail as alleged rape trial continues
Dani Alves will remain in custody as he is under criminal investigation for allegedly raping a woman, Sky report.
The Brazilian had his bail request rejected as he is considered a high flight risk. His defence team argued that Alves would be ready to hand in his passport to go on bail but the court still insisted that he could try to escape.
"Nothing would stop Mr Alves from leaving Spain by air, sea or even land without documentation and reaching his country of origin, where he could stay knowing that he would not be delivered to Spain despite international arrest warrants or extradition orders," the court said.
The former Barca full-back faces up to 15 years in prison for alleged rape if proven guilty.
