Chelsea suffered yet another defeat on the road with the 1-0 loss to Dortmund. It was their fourth loss in all competitions in the last 10 games.

However, the Blues played a lot better against Dortmund than they have in recent games. They defended well and showed a lot of attacking impetus.

Stats showed that Chelsea attempted 21 shots against their German host with 8 of those shots hitting the target.

Impressively, Chelsea created three big chances against BVB but missed all three big chances.

On one occasion, Felix danced his way into the box with the goal at his mercy:

Unfortunately the Portuguese couldn't hit the target from just a few yards. He found the woodwork instead.

Felix' reaction after that miss said it all

There were other chances missed for the Blues that weren't really big chances, like Reece James free-kick being saved and Kai Harvetz losing out to Schotterbeck after being put through on goal. Enzo Fernandez could've equalized late on with a curling effort that got saved.

Overall, it is clear that Chelsea's biggest weakness is their inability to bury chances. The biggest culprits against Dortmund were Felix and Havertz.

After the game, Graham Potter blamed the misses on luck. He said on BT Sport: "You always need a bit of luck but you can't wait around for luck, you have to keep working."

But it's clear that Chelsea needs more than luck to start winning games. They are lacking a goalscorer and that remains a big problem
