'Chelsea need me with the rebuild': Thiago Silva all but confirms impending new deal
Thiago Silva wants to stay at Chelsea beyond this season, he has confirmed to ESPN.
He said: "We are talking about it, everything will probably happen in the next few days. My intention, and that of the club as well, is to stay together.
"I know that the club needs me right now. I am here to be able to help, they are young players, anyway. I know that, with my experience, I can help in this process of rebuilding the club, I'm here for that, willing to do this, however, I know that my responsibility is very great."
Earlier, multiple sources confirmed that Chelsea have offered the 38-year-old a new one-year extension.
If the deal is agreed upon, the 2023/24 campaign will be Silva's fourth at Stamford Bridge - which is beyond any expectations the Blues had back in 2020 when they signed the centre-back who was already turning 36.
