Centre-back transfer 'high on agenda' for Liverpool in summer
Liverpool's summer transfer campaign is unlikely to be limited to midfield reinforcement, according to the Liverpool Echo.
A centre-back signing must also be 'high on the agenda', a fact that has been highlighted with a few recent performances.
The Reds conceded three or more goals in five out of 13 games they have played since the World Cup break. That includes the 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Besides, there are question marks over each of the four current main centre-backs.
Ibrahima Konate is injury-prone, Joe Gomez is wildly inconsistent while Joel Matip could be heading out in the summer. Even Virgil van Dijk who is an undisputed leader has not been as imposing as he was before the horrible injury he sustained in the 2020-21 season.
The question remains whether Liverpool will be able to afford such a transfer spree. For that, a top-four finish appears to be a must
