Erik ten Hag has already fired a warning to his Manchester United players to not get lazy after winning the Carabao Cup.
Quoted by The Independent, the boss said: "It shows something, silverware, that you are on a good pathway, you are in a good direction.
"It is one cup and it is February, but it shows we are in the right direction.
"This has to be the inspiration, it has to be the motivation to keep going, to continue on this pathway and to improve."
Erik added: "OK, be happy for 24 hours but not satisfied because satisfaction, that leads to laziness and when you become lazy, you don’t win any more games and you can’t win trophies."
The players and the fans were elated to have won our first trophy since 2017 but there is still a long road ahead of us.
Beating Newcastle convincingly to win the Carabao Cup though still has a place in history, considering it's Ten Hag's first season in charge.
Not to mention, 2021/22 was branded our worst-ever season and not many would have thought we'd win a trophy in the very next campaign.
