Bayern Munich fans made their feelings known about ticket price; €150 which is the price of two PSG away tickets
Bayern Munich supporters once again showed their frustrations at the ticket prices in the Champions League during their trip to Le Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening.
They produced a banner that stated: “€70? We’re still not Neymar!”
A second banner continued: “Twenty is plenty, **** PSG!”
This is not the first time Bayern supporters have voiced their frustrations over ticket pricing in Europe's top competition. Back in 2019 they produced the “Twenty is plenty” banner at Anfield when they faced Liverpool. A theme that they had continued from Celtic supporters who had also been unhappy about ticket prices in the Champions League.
In fact, in 2015, when Bayern travelled to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal, a banner was unfurled and read: "64 pounds a ticket but without fans football is not worth a penny."
For reference, a season ticket in the standing section at the Allianz Arena roughly costs €150, which is the equivalent of just two PSG away tickets, simply staggering.
Bayern and the majority of German teams have stressed many times that other clubs across Europe are pricing fans out of football. This issue has been voiced repeatedly for over a decade now, isn’t it time that those at the very top start listening?
During the pandemic, with football being played behind closed doors, it rang home just how vital the supporters are to the sportClubs lost an awful lot of revenue during that tough time, with some in the lower leagues even having to fold completely.
The atmospheres generated in football stadiums across the world is something that adds to the quality of the sport and as Jock Stein famously said: “Football without fans is nothing.”
The cost of ticketing is becoming more prevalent now with the cost of living continuing to rise in many countries across the world. Football should be affordable for all, and that is what Bayern fans have been trying to point out for several years now.
