Saka & Jorginho 8, Tomiyasu 2: Arsenal player ratings in City defeat

Man City have stamped their authority on Arsenal, beating the Gunners 3-1 at the Emirates.

Saka: 8. Showed nerves of steel to score a penalty despite all these mind games from Ederson to distract him. Had a lot of fun against Bernardo Silva and was the main architect for the Gunners up front, participating in nearly every attack.

Jorginho: 8. Very vocal, giving instructions and encouragement to his younger teammates. Did very well in the midfield, winning a lot of balls and spraying dangerous passes into the final third. Cleared the ball off the line a couple of minutes before Haaland's goal.

Saliba: 6.5. Held his ground pretty well against Haaland & Co. The best performers in an otherwise very shaky defence.

Trossard: 6.5. Added dynamism and directness when came on but it was already too late.

Ramsdale: 6. Could have positioned himself better to save De Bruyne's effort but did extremely well to deny Haaland after Zinchenko's mistake in the middle of the second half. Couldn't do anything with the second and the third goals.

Martinelli: 6. A couple of good runs but wasn't as threatening as he would have liked.

Xhaka: 5.5. Brilliant ball to Eddie just before the penalty decision but couldn't play that killer passes in the second half when Arsenal caught City on the break. Slowed things down a lot for the Gunners.

Odegaard: 5. Was very quiet throughout the game.

Zinchenko: 5. Very creative and dangerous going forward in the first half, worked a brilliant cross for Nketiah in the middle of the first half.

Things went downhill for the Ukrainian after the break as he nearly gifted a goal to Haaland after shortly the hour's mark and was very poor on the ball as City scored their second.

Nketiah: 4.5. Wasted a great chance early on after Zinc's cross but won a penalty that led to Saka's goal. Wasted two more chances after that. Has been class for Arsenal but we can't really wait for Jesus' return.

Gabriel: 4. Very shaky against Haaland and it was his poor pass that led to City's second goal of the night.

Tomiyasu: 2. Clumsy back-pass to Ramsdale that led to De Bruyne's goal. Wasted a good chance just a few minuter after City's opener as he couldn't direct his left-footed volley on target from a good position within the box.

It was unlucky but Grealish scored through his deflection that took the shot over Ramsdale's dive. On the other side, Tommy was helpful up front with his overlapping runs but it wasn't enough.
