'A chance for him to rewrite the story of his career': Eddie Howe backs Loris Karius to deliver vs Man United

Speaking to the media, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said: "It would be a magnificent chance for Loris Karius to rewrite the story of his career.

"There's been loads of stories through the times in football where these things have happened and there's been a really positive outcome... or not.

"We can't predict what that will be. There's that feeling there's another story in Karius's career — another page or chapter to write.

"And who knows what that chapter will look like. That's the beauty of football. This unpredictability is what makes it such an amazing thing to watch."

Karius is expected to start for Newcastle against Manchester United when the two teams meet in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, February 26.

The German goalkeeper's career has been going downhill since his errors in the 2018 Champions League final led to Liverpool losing 3–1 against Real Madrid.
