Xavi wants 33-year-old Parejo to replace Busquets next summer – top source
According to the highly-credible Gerard Romero (5 stars), Dani Parejo is Xavi’s pick to replace Sergio Busquets next summer. The rest of the Barcelona coaching staff like the 33-year-old’s profile as well.
Parejo turns 34 in April, has a contract until 2024 and is valued at €7m by Transfermarkt, which could make him a low-cost short-term option for Barca. This season, the midfielder has contributed with 5 assists in 28 matches for Villarreal (18 starts).
At the same time, Javi Miguel (4 stars) reports that Martin Zubimendi remains Xavi’s priority signing but his €60m release clause is making the move complicated.
Parejo is viewed as an alternative and only in the case that Busquets leaves Camp Nou this summer. Sergio is still contemplating his future and, at the moment, it appears likely that he will continue.
