Xavi Reportedly Ask Busquets To Cut Salary In Half And Stay For Another Year

According to Diario Sport's Lluis Miguelsanz (4 stars), Xavi plans to ask Sergio Busquets to cut his salary by more than 50% which would allow him to continue for another season at Barcelona.

The coach was ready to accept Busquets's departure if the club signed Martin Zubimendi. However, Barca do not have the finances to trigger his €60m release clause and is thus ready to count on Sergio for another year.

The 34-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season. The veteran will make a decision later on based on what Barca achieve this term and the offer he has from elsewhere.

Although difficult, it is not impossible that Busquets accepts a pay cut and continues at the club -- Sergi Roberto did it last year.
