Xavi explains Balde and Christensen subs at half-time v Getafe

Xavi made two substitutions at half-time against Getafe, replacing Alejandro Balde and Andreas Christensen with Jordi Alba and Eric Garcia respectively. After the game, he was asked to explain his decisions.

"Balde was good, but we brought in Jordi Alba as a tactical change. We needed him to support the midfield. Balde is fine. The substitution was strictly tactical," the Barcelona coach said.

"Christensen was replaced as he had some discomfort. I think Christensen will be ready for the next match."

COPE reported during the game that Christensen felt some discomfort in his left hamstring and was thus taken off.

On Wednesday, Barca host Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals so it makes sense that Xavi preferred not to risk the centre-back.
