(Video): Messi's Left Foot Immortalised in a Golden Cast Worth $5.3 Million

Argentina's world cup heroe Lionel Messi's left foot was immortalised in a golden cast after winning his fourth Ballon d'Or prize in 2013. 

The little genius became the first player to win the coveted individual prize on four occasions and it was only befitting that his magical and most priced asset his left leg be eternalised.

In captivating footage, shared on social media, seen by Sports Brief, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar was filmed in good spirits while his left foot got immortalised. 

Barca Worldwide reports that the golden foot was auctioned off to raise funds to help victims of the Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.

How was Messi's foot immortalised? 

A worker from Tokyo-based jewellery company Ginza Tanaka travelled to Spain for the essential step in creating the gold model of Messi's left foot.

 Messi, who inspired Argentina to World Cup success, placed his foot in a container which was filled with molten substance for the sculpting to take place. 

The former Barcelona talisman also signed his autograph for the complete seal of authentication.

 According to SportBIBLE, Messi's golden foot was valued at $5.3 million (£3.4 million).
