It’s all systems go for Barcelona in Saudi Arabia.
The Spanish side are gearing up for the Spanish Supercopa and their first game against Real Betis.
What is the Spanish Supercopa?
Unlike many other leagues, which kick off the season with a match between last season’s league winners and the domestic cup winners, Spain’s version features four teams competing for the trophy.
The top two teams in La Liga last season, and the finalists of the Copa de Rey will contest the Supercopa, Sporting News reported. Real Madrid and Barca finished first and second in La Liga, while Real Betis won the Copa del Rey and Valencia were the losing finalist.
Madrid will take on Valencia today (January 11) in the first semi-final, while Barcelona and Betis will meet in the second semi-final tomorrow (January 12).
This year’s fixtures could also provide fans with the chance to witness an El Clasico in the final. Madrid beat Barca 3-1 in the previous El Clasico this season.
Barcelona receives warm welcome
La Blaugrana have touched down in Saudi Arabia for the tournament and were given a warm welcome upon arriving in the country.

Madrid duo to miss Supercopa
Real Madrid has suffered a double injury blow, ahead of this week’s crucial Spanish Super Cup semi-final clash against Valencia. The Spanish champions have confirmed injuries to David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni, who have picked up injuries to their right and left soleus muscles respectively.
