'The only United I've ever supported': Howard Webb clears the air after Manchester derby
Former referee Howard Webb has retreated that he is not a Manchester United fan.
“Let’s get something straight, once and for all,” he said. “Contrary to what you might have seen on the internet, I never shared a bed with Sir Alex Ferguson.
“There is no statue of me outside Old Trafford. My kids are not called Rio, Wayne and Cristiano. There is no Red Devil tattoo inked on my left buttock.
"The only United I have ever supported - hand on heart - is of the Rotherham variety. And that’s the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
Webb was recently appointed as the first chief refereeing officer of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), with VAR one of his main focuses.
He is in the spotlight again after United’s 2-1 win over City in the Premier League on Saturday.
