Ten Hag Confirms Martial Injury, Urges Players To Be More 'Resilient'

"After half-time, we had to sub [Anthony] Martial," explained Erik ten Hag in his post-match press conference.

"He had some complaints, and the game changed."

Marcus Rashford was struggling with a hip injury during the 2-1 win over Manchester City but he decided to continue.

Using his case as an example, the Manchester United boss added: "Players have to be resilient. You get kicked in a game. It happened and it hurts but you have to keep going.

"You have to do it to get the right result and performance. Deal with the painful moment or even if it stays painful the game will go on.

"That’s what he [Rashford] did today and he was rewarded for it.

"In top football, you have to suffer and sacrifice to get the right result and win something.

Martial was an injury doubt before the game and it remains to be seen how long he will be out.

As for Rashford, he persevered and got a big reward in the end. That said, he needs to keep himself fit with more big games coming ahead.
