Tammy Abraham Briefly Turns Into Prime Defender For Roma With Crucial Save

Former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham was the hero of the day as his last-ditch defending helped his side to a crucial 1-0 win in the Serie A.

Lorenzo Pelligrini scored from the penalty spot in the first half in what proved to be the winning goal, but the moment that secured victory surely belonged to Tammy Abraham.

Bologna were no pushover on Wednesday, January 4 as they pushed for an equalizer in the second half, and it nearly came right at the death.

With seconds remaining, former Manchester United man Chris Smalling made a crucial block, sending the ball out for a corner.

Bologna’s Nicolas Dominguez whipped cross into the box, which somehow found Jhon Lucumi at the back post.

As reported on Daily Mail, Lucumi then directed a powerful header towards goal, and it would have gone in had it not been for the intervention of Tammy Abraham.

Notably, Abraham started on the bench for the Bologna game as Mourinho opted to go with the likes of Paulo Dybala instead.

The 25-year-old has struggled to reciprocate his form from his debut season in Italy where he scored an impressive 27 goals across all competitions.

This term, he has only managed four goals, with three of them coming in the Serie A.
