Steven Gerrard painfully misses out on top managerial job because "he lacks experience"

Former Liverpool ace Steven Gerrard is set to miss out on the Poland managerial job because of his lack of experience in a huge blow to him.

Gerrard emerged as a shock favourite to replace Czeslaw Michniewicz, who left the job after the Qatar World Cup.

The Liverpool legend was among a list of big names on the shortlist, but if latest reports are anything to go by, it may not happen for him.

As reported on Sunsport, Polish Football Association supremo Cezary Kulesza recently revealed the country’s FA is in the hunt for a manager who has some degree of experience on the international front.

"The candidate is from abroad.” He said in a recent appearance on RMF FM.

"I would like the decision to be made today or tomorrow, but it depends on the other party.”

Poland’s intentions to have a manager with international experience effectively rules out Gerrard, who has only had two solid managerial roles at club level.

He developed his reputation in the Scottish top tier with Rangers before making the move to the Premier League with Aston Villa.

42-year-old Gerrard was open to taking the job, which would have seen him make a bumper salary.

Former Poland ace Zbigniew Boniek also ruled out the possibility of the country appointing Gerrard.

According to Boniek, Gerrard knew little to nothing about the Poland national team hence would make an ideal candidate.
