Joao Felix's loan agreement contains a clause that 'opens door for permanent transfer in the summer', the Athletic report.

It was previously reported that Chelsea's deal with Atletico is a dry loan, with no option or obligation to buy.

While the Athletic do not go into detail about what the clause means, it's surely exciting for the Blues faithful, who were impressed by Felix's debut.

However, the Athletic add that Atletico still consider the forward their player and are 'counting on him' for the 2023/24 campaign.

The La Liga side understand that it's unlikely the Portuguese international will blossom under current manager Diego Simeone though. As the Argentine is linked with a summer exit from Atleti, there is always a possibility of Felix not joining Chelsea on a permanent deal.
