“Scott McTominay got onto the ball" - Bruno Fernandes breaks silence on Manchester United’s penalty claim vs Crystal Palace
Bruno Fernandes has refused to be distracted by whether or not Manchester United should have won a penalty against Crystal Palace after Scott McTominay was brought down inside the Palace box.
McTominay was involved in a challenge inside Palace’s penalty box but fell on the floor after getting contact from the Crystal Palace defender.
Bruno Fernandes and other United players complained to the referee, who waved it on, that McTominay might have been fouled inside the penalty box.
VAR did a quick review of the incident and found no issues with it.
Fernandes told the media that the decision could have gone either way but since it went in favour of Palace, United can’t worry about it anymore.
“Scott [McTominay] got onto the ball, the guy from Palace tried to tackle him but decisions can go either way,” Fernandes told BBC.
“We can’t be worried about now, it’s gone.”
Manchester United were sloppy in the final third and Fernandes agreed with that as he believes United could have scored more goals if their last touch was near perfect.
“We missed chances, one pass more or the cross and pass was not good enough. We are not happy with one point but we have to look forward now,” Fernandes added. “We have to understand we are still doing good things.”
