Ronaldo Parts Ways With Jorge Mendes After One Major Disagreement
Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly parted ways with his super-agent Jorge Mendes, after nearly 20 years of working together.
The 37-year-old surprised everybody with a move to the Saudi Arabian outfit after mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United.
But Ronaldo's longtime super-agent, Mendes was not the one who negotiated his move to the Middle East.
Mendes was the brain behind Ronaldo’s astronomical transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid back in 2009.
The Portuguese football agent also oversaw the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's move to Juventus, and his stunning return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021.
Why Ronaldo split with Mendes
According to Publico, the relationship between Mendes and Ronaldo had deteriorated over the last few months.
Per the Portuguese media outlet, the agent was not happy with his client's decision to go ahead with his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
The report further states that Mendes knew Ronaldo's options of playing for another top club in Europe would be limited after the controversial interview.
The veteran forward then resorted to his personal manager, Ricky Regufe, who negotiated his move to Al-Nassr.
