Real Madrid Line Up Chelsea Defender Reece James As Right Back Top Target To Replace Dani Carvajal

Chelsea defender, Reece James is on the radar of Real Madrid and the Spanish giants could make a formal bid for the Englishman in the summer.

Los Blancos are looking to solidify their defence following the club’s embarrassing loss in the Spanish Super Cup final to arch-rivals Barcelona.

According to Sportskeeda, Real Madrid has listed James as part of a three-man shortlist to replace long-serving defender Dani Carvajal after he struggled against Barcelona in the Super Cup final.

Pedro Porro and Vinicius Tobias are the two other players currently being looked at by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to replace Carvajal at the end of the season.

Carvajal who was repeatedly found wanting in the final against Barcelona, is currently number one at the right-back position for Madrid, with Lucas Vazquez the second choice.

Carvajal’s performances gives Madrid worries

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are growing concerned over the performances of veteran Spanish defender Dani Carvajal after his lackadaisical performance against Barcelona, Madrid Universal reports.

The 31-year-old Spanish defender has been a mainstay in the right-back position at Real Madrid for years, but he has struggled with fitness issues in recent seasons.

The Spanish international had no fitness issues when the new season began, but his performances have been significantly impacted as a result of the recurrence of his injuries.
