Not ‘Agent’ Mendes,: One Person Behind Ronaldo's Al Nassr Move Revealed

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, CR7 signed a contract valid until June 2025 with the “giant” Saudi Arabia, receiving a salary of nearly 200 million euros/year (approximately 177.3 million pounds), including including commercial transactions.

However, according to a source from Marca (Spain), longtime agent Jorge Mendes is completely out of the deal to bring Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia. Instead, the talks were “directed” by Ricky Regufe, CR7’s personal manager.

Last week, Saudi media also posted a clip recording the moment Ricky Regufe met Al Nassr leadership in a restaurant.

Mendes, 56, has been Ronaldo’s agent since 2003, contributing to CR7’s “blockbuster” transfers to join Man Utd, Real Madrid, Juventus and then return to Man Utd.

This is not the first time this name Ricky Regufe  has been mentioned. Regufe used to work as a marketing director for a “giant” in the famous American sportswear manufαcтuring field. After collaborating with Ronaldo in 2018, he was instrumental in establishing a partnership between the two sides, bringing CR7 a huge commercial contract with this company.

Regufe’s influence is so great that he often accompanies Ronaldo at dinners, vacations, award ceremonies or important events. Even after the Euro 2016 final, the media discovered the moment this man hugged CR7 and celebrated the championship with Portugal on the field.

However, in the 2022 World Cup, Regufe is said to be the cause of friction between Ronaldo and the Portuguese players. Some stars feel uncomfortable and do not understand why he is always with the team even though he is not a member of the leadership, coaching staff or logistics.
