Neymar Accused Of Intentionally Receiving A Red Card vs Strasbourg , Facing Hefty Fine
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Neymar, a superstar from Brazil who plays for Strasbourg in Ligue 1, acquired a second yellow card on purpose while the team was playing against Strasbourg so that he could skip the following match and celebrate the Tet holiday.
On the evening of December 28, PSG defeated Strasbourg by a score of 2-1. Marquinhos scored the first goal of the game for PSG early on in the first half. On the other hand, the Brazilian midfielder is a cause of frustration for the team. An own goal was scored as a result of Adrien Thomasson’s cross that went wide, missing Marquinhos, and ended up in the back of the net.
According to Diario AS, Neymar exhibited poor play in the second half when he slapped Thomasson in the face, resulting in the latter receiving a yellow card for his actions. A little over a minute later, the Brazilian player was in goal, but he faked falling inside the penalty area in order to get a penalty ᴋɪᴄᴋ. However, the referee verified that there was no touch, and the referee issued Neymar yet another yellow card for the foul, which resulted in Neymar being sent off the field.
As a consequence of this, the Brazilian superstar has been given a suspension and will not be able to play for PSG when they face Lens on January 1, 2023. The Spanish news outlet Diario AS has leveled the accusation that the former Barcelona winger purposefully fell within the penalty area in order to obtain a second yellow card.
According to a publication in Spain, the Brazilian striker did this so that he could skip the forthcoming Ligue 1 match for the Paris side so that he could travel home and enjoy New Year’s Eve with his family. Since joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a then-world record transfer fee of 222 million euros, Neymar has already been issued his fifth red card.
However, the manager of PSG, Christophe Galtier, has come to his player’s defense and stated that he understands why tensions erupted during the game. After the match against GOAL, he commented as follows: “I can empathize with Neymar and understand the aggravation and rage he feels. I didn’t expect a difficult game. The preparations made in Strasbourg were excellent. The game had a high number of run-ins with obstacles. The ball has been touched on the playing field.
The visiting team played very well and shown a great deal of strength, but our players were sneaky at times and played some tricks on them. I’m sorry to hear that Neymar was sent off, but I think the referee took things a little too far in my opinion. The fact that Neymar was dismissed after only one minute is a source of frustration for him.”
