Man United to Introduce ‘Ronaldo Rule’ Weeks After Striker’s Departure

Manchester United are reportedly planning to introduce a strange 'Ronaldo rule' that would see wages for players capped at £200k a week to mitigate jealousy within the dressing room.

United are understood to be having the biggest wage bill in the Premier League, with the Manchester club's annual wage bill said to be around £228m.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo was the club's highest-earning player at Old Trafford before his departure to Al Nassr.

The veteran striker was earning a staggering £480,000-a-week during his time with the club, while keeper David de Gea is banking an eyewatering £375k per week.

Man United to cap salaries

Daily Mail now reports that Man United CEO Richard Arnold, director of football John Murtough and Erik ten Hag are planning a squad-wide pay cap to circumvent a culture of jealousy among players.

The move would see De Gea, who is currently the club's top earner offered a new contract in the region of £180,000-£200,000-a-week.

Bruno Fernandes, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Casemiro are all said to be on a similar wage scale.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is expected to present the club with the biggest headache once United kick off negotiations with the forward over a new deal.
