I was playing with many legends at Barca: Thiago reveals why he left Barca back in the day

Back in 2013, Thiago Alcantara was regarded as one of the most talented fresh products of La Masia. The Barcelona fans had big expectations of him but he surprised many by joining Bayern Munich in a move worth €25m.

Here's how he explained his decision in a recent interview with BT Sports.

"I was playing with many legends at Barca. Back then, it was difficult for me to play as many minutes as I wanted," Thiago said. (h/t Diario Sport)

"Soon after, Pep Guardiola left the club and joined Bayern Munich. He asked me what was wrong. The deciding factor was that I needed minutes and wanted to play."

Although he struggled with frequent injuries, Thiago was a key player at Bayern when fit. Due to his excellent performances in Germany, the midfielder was often linked with a return to Camp Nou but the transfer never happened. In 2020. he moved to Liverpool.
