Gavi likely to get no. 6 shirt 'before the end of transfer window' - multiple sources
Barcelona are optimistic about registering Gavi as a first-team player before the winter window slams shut in a week, multiple sources claim.
The 18-year-old wonderkid agreed terms on a new long-term contract with the Blaugrana in September. La Masia graduate is now tied down with the club until the summer of 2026, with a release clause of €1 billion inserted as well.
Barca’s Financial Fair Play issues didn't allow them to register the player with La Liga in summer, hence Gavi remains on the list as a subsidiary player, wearing the no. 30 kit number meant for reserve players.
But now, if the reports are true, things changed. Gerard Pique and Memphis Depay's departures made room for this to happen.
Once the Blaugrana receive the approval, Gavi would officially become a first-team member and handed the iconic no. 6 jersey, once worn by Xavi himself.
