Fans Fear Chelsea Signing Joao Felix Could Flop After Taking ‘Cursed’ Shirt Number

A section of Chelsea fans is afraid January signing Joao Felix could flop after he took a 'cursed' shirt number.

The Portuguese star sealed a temporary move to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid, with the forward set to spend the remainder of the 2022/23 season with the Blues.

Felix had initially been linked with a potential move to either Man United or Arsenal before Chelsea snapped him up on loan.

According to Daily Star, the Atletico Madrid ace is set to sport the No.11 shirt during his short stint at the west London club.

The shirt number has been vacant for months now after it was vacated by Timo Werner, who left the club in the summer for a return to the Bundesliga.

Fans react to Felix's shirt no.

While some fans reckoned the jersey suits their new signing, others suggested it could have a negative impact on his spell at Stamford Bridge.

One tweeted:

"Felix wearing 11 is bad news. Strong Timo Werner vibes. He's going to flop."

A second wondered:

"Why are we giving him Timo's old shirt? The striker curse goes on."

A third contended:

 "Werner 2.0 incoming."

However, there are those who exuded the belief that Felix will live up to his billing.

One noted:

"At least it's not the dreaded No 9 shirt."

 Another added:

"That number suits him so well."
