Ex PSG Star Claims Brazil Icon Ronaldinho Way Better Than Lionel Messi In His Prime
Lionel Messi entered football’s folklore as one of its greats after winning the World Cup but the Paris Saint-Germain star still is not regarded as the game’s greatest-ever player by some.
Messi has won every competition he has participated in, with the 2022 World Cup the Argentine’s crowning moment but former PSG star Martin Cardetti believes Ronaldindo is better than him.
According to Sportskeeda, Cardetti believes Ronaldinho, who played alongside Messi at Barcelona, was a better player than the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner in his prime.
“As a coach, for my team, I would choose Ronaldinho at his best over Messi. I shared a year with Ronaldinho, and he is a different player; he’s touched by God.
“He always had fun; with the ball, he was always doing things, and he practiced a lot so that he could replicate those things in matches.”
Ronaldinho enjoyed a phenomenal career, playing for Barcelona, PSG, and AC Milan as he scored 197 goals and provided 163 assists in 542 club appearances.
How Ronaldinho helped shape Messi's career
Meanwhile, Ronaldinho acted as a Godfather to Lionel Messi as the Brazilian legend helped the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner integrate into the Barcelona senior team claims FIFA.
In FIFA’s “The Happiest Man in the World” documentary about the flamboyant Brazilian star, Ronaldinho’s close relationship with Messi was x-rayed.
Ronaldinho and Messi enjoyed a successful time together at Barcelona as the pair won two Spanish La Liga titles and the 2006 Champions League.
