Espanyol Appeal Barcelona Result After Lewandowski Plays Despite Ban
Espanyol and Barcelona played out a heated draw in the Catalan derby, but the tension between the two sides doesn't seem to have ended there.
14 cards, including two reds, were dished out to players during the encounter as both sides shared the spoils.
Espanyol, though, are unhappy with what took place before the game with regard to Robert Lewandowski and are taking the matter further.
Lewandowski was originally due to miss the game after picking up a three-game suspension but was allowed to play after a Madrid court temporarily suspended his punishment. Marca reports that the Catalan club have filed an appeal with the Royal Spanish Football Federation to dispute the game because they feel that Lewandowski should not have been allowed to play.

Football Espana also confirmed that Espanyol considered forfeiting the game after news broke that Lewandowski would be allowed to play.
The Madrid Central Court only provided a temporary suspension of Lewandowski's punishment and will still have to decide whether the ban will stand or whether it will be dropped. Barca Universal reported that the Blaugrana are unsure whether Lewandowski will be allowed to play the next fixture against Atletico Madrid. The two sides are due to play on January 8.
